“The fox has many tricks. The hedgehog has but one. But that is the best of all.”

—Archilochus

If there’s one thing that rogues have, it’s tricks. Tricks that incapacitate you so that you just stand there doing nothing while the rogue dances around you and laughs. Tricks that cause you to bleed . . . profusely. Tricks that make the rogue just disappear on the spot. Many times I have been saving up for a big mortal strike when the rogue I was fighting would just vanish. No clue where he went, no trace of how he got away—he was just gone. Seconds later, I find a dagger lodged in my back, dripping some kind of green goo. (Yeah, that’s gonna cause an infection.) But I am going off on a tangent about a recent battleground. The point is that rogues have tricks.

Now they have another trick to add to their arsenal: Filthy Tricks . . .

This week’s Fires of Outland preview has a new option for Rogues to generate Combo cards in their graveyard at what some might consider an alarming rate. This ability is simplistic in what it provides to the class, and yet the implications for the combo player seem endless. “Every card in your graveyard.” Just think about that for a second. That quest that you discarded on turn 3 to an opponent’s Mind Spike? It’s a Combo card now. Your Bloodfang Hood gets destroyed by Malfunction? It’s a Combo card now as well. The match could have really gotten out of hand because Lorekeeper Darian showed and is now slowly whittling you away. But drop your Filthy Tricks and turn the tables on your opponent. All those discarded cards instantly become Combo cards that only fuel your Finishing Moves that much more.
